Rebecca Trefz, Choir Director

Rebecca Trefz was named director of the Shepherd’s Choir in June 2019 and has served as the director of the Peals of Praise Adult Handbell Choir since January 2018. 

A 2000 graduate of Capital University, she holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a minor in music with an emphasis on vocal music education. In 2009, she earned a master of education degree from Ashland University. She was an elementary school teacher for 15 years and now teaches English language learners.

Rebecca has served in a number of musical roles over the years. She was youth choir director and youth and adult handbell choir director at Zion Lutheran Church in Lima, Ohio. She established and directed two adult handbell choirs at All Saints Lutheran Church in Worthington for five years. She plays both piano and flute, and she has given private piano lessons.

She and her husband, Matt, have been married since 2002. They have one son, who attends Olentangy Orange High School. In her spare time, she volunteers with a local pit bull rescue and is passionate about educating the public regarding the misconceptions surrounding the breed.
