youth Ministry Director

Young people are a critical part of our church community. All Shepherds must make a concerted effort: to develop youth faith formation, involve and engage youth at all ages, and create a safe and welcoming space. Primary objectives to achieve these goals include:

  • Expand faith formation opportunities for middle and high school age students

  • Engage youth and involve them in age-appropriate activities that allow them to feel a part of the congregation

  • Build relationships to support the ongoing faith development of our young people

  • Involve youth in weekly church opportunities, including participation and leadership activities

  • Increase outreach activities

In order to accomplish these tasks, a dedicated staff member is needed to support our congregation’s youth. This staff member can actively attend to specific duties that will engage our youth.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Work alongside Pastor Wendy to carry out the ministry needs of the middle and high school youth in our congregation

  • Expand faith formation opportunities for middle and high school youth

  • Involve and engage youth in age-appropriate activities that promote congregational inclusion

  • Support spiritual development and life-long faith formation

  • Serve as a Confirmation Guide

  • Increase the amount and quality of interactions available for the youth of our church

  • Engage youth in weekly services, including participation and leadership activities

  • Involve youth in serving activities

  • Build and support a team of adult members (including Confirmed youth) to assist middle/high school students in faith formation

  • Some education experience preferred

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

Hours:

The position will consist of 10 hours per week with Sundays required. Other days and times may vary.

Pay:

The rate of pay for this part-time position is $20.00 per hour for a total of $200.00 per week. The position includes two weeks paid vacation and up to an additional two weeks off without pay.

Reporting Structure:

This position reports to Pastor Wendy and communicates with the Learning Ministry Director.
